Work Place Innovation Series Logo

These past few years have resulted in a shift. A shift on how people work and want to work. A shift that employers will need to acknowledge as they face this new trajectory when it comes to their workforce and workplace. Experts claim there is no going back when it comes to doing things “the way we used to.”

Center of Workforce Innovations, the Northwest Indiana Board, and the Times Media Company wanted to ensure that regional employers understood the importance of shifting, even just one degree, in order to attract and retain employees, and stay competitive in our global economy. The Workplace Innovation Series will provide the opportunity to ramp up and prepare our region to embrace what experts are calling a new way of work.

One-Degree Shift: Building Tomorrow's Greatest Places to Work
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2022  |  8:30 - 10:00am
Virtual Event

Presented by Eric Teremuende, Author & Business Performance Expert

If there is one thing we have learned in the past months, it is that the future is
impossible to predict. Knowing that, how do we build teams that thrive in the
weeks, months, and years to come? The answer lies in one-degree shifts: small,
consistent changes that enable teams to build trust, remove friction, and build a
culture of innovation.

In this engaging, and takeaway-loaded presentation, workplace expert Eric
Termuende shares what years of research, stories, and insights uncover about
the one-degree shifts leaders use to adapt to an ever-changing world around
them and build incredible teams. From Domino’s Pizza to the British Cycling Team,
discover how the consistent application of small, incremental changes improves
camaraderie, belonging, psychological safety, and engagement. While the future of
work is certain to be uncertain, there is nothing to say we cannot still thrive in it.

In this presentation, leaders will learn the secret of a one-degree shift to:

  • Reduce friction and build trust
  • Increase effectiveness of remote/hybrid teams
  • Build a culture of innovation
  • Understand your role in creating a ‘great place to work’
  • Discover what cilantro teaches us about strong workplace culture

Keynote Address: NINCOMPOOPERY

Terrible customer service, idiotic business processes, and soul-crushing management practices — surrounds us. We lose time, patience, and profits as stuck-in-the-past organizations actively prevent us (and our customers) from getting the value we (and they) deserve. Can’t anybody change this?

Drawing from his new book Nincompoopery, CEO and award-winning business writer John R. Brandt says we can. Leveraging research across thousands of companies to show leaders how to find and kill the corporate stupidity that drives customers crazy, he offers concrete examples of how any organization both large or small, regardless of industry, can innovate in ways that delight customers and attracts top-level talent.
